Ben Widner began teaching Social Studies and coaching Boys Basketball at Glenbrook South in 1999.  He has also worked as a staff advisor for the Peer Group program since 2007.  Prior to this he earned a BA in History and Secondary Education from the University of St. Francis and a Master's degree in Teacher Leadership from North Park University.  Coach Widner was an all-conference basketball player and co-captain of both his high school team (Benet Academy) and at USF.  Widner coached basketball for 17 years, track and field for 2, and began coaching baseball at GBS starting in 2023.  Ben Widner, his wife Sarah, and children Jake, Sayde, and Hank live in Glenview and attend GBS, Attea Middle School and Pleasant Ridge School respectively.
