Josh Stanton
Varsity Assistant Coach
(847) 486-5768
Josh will begin his 7th year coaching for the GBS baseball program this season. This is Coach Stanton’s 3rd year as a varsity assistant; previously, he has also spent time as a sophomore assistant, and one year as the interim sophomore head coach. Coach Stanton primarily works with the defensive on the varsity level, but also contributes as the Titan’s program wide catching coach. Before arriving at GBS, Josh coached 1 season at his high school alma mater, Lockport Township High School, at the freshman level. Josh is a Central College (Iowa) graduate where he played collegiately and was a varsity starter and letter winner for 4 years (08’-12’), handling the duties behind the plate and was also named to the Iowa Conference All-Academic Team in 2011. Coach Stanton was a .311 career hitter in 103 games and helped the Central "Dutch" break the school wins record twice (09' & 12'). His senior year, Central won the IIAC conference title outright for the first time in 64 years with a 29-11 record.
He graduated from Central with a B.A. in exercise science, and currently serves as the physical education, health education, and driver education department assistant at GBS. Coach Stanton went on to receive master’s degrees in curriculum and instruction and school administration from Concordia University Chicago and Northeastern Illinois University, respectively. Josh resides happily in the city of Chicago with his wife Michelle, and both are looking forward to another exciting season of Titan baseball!
